Improvements
REdesigned Post Composer
Come post-up with Gander using the new and improved post composer.
- Quote + media: Attach images, video, or links when quoting another post
- Media-only posts: Share photos or video without needing to add text (you still can if you like though)
- Better mentions: Typing “@” opens the mention picker automatically, mentions insert right at your cursor, and display names are shown instead of usernames (AKA gandles)
- Post settings: Add an AI-generated label before posting
- Camera interface: Custom camera integration for recording video and taking photos (plus camera roll access… working on adding collections to help you find images more quickly)
- ALT text: Full ALT text support for both images and videos
Hashtags
#HashtagsAreHere
- Tappable hashtags: tap a hashtag anywhere on Gander (posts, comments, messages, and profile bios) to browse all posts with that tag.
- Please use #CamelCase and/or #PascalCase so they are accessible. It looks nicer too.
Flicks
Back with a bunch of quality of life improvements.
- Flicks are back: Now showing videos exclusively from Gander users (Bluesky will be back later)
- Smarter playback: Video playback pauses when you open a comment sheet and resumes when you close it
- Take me to the top: Tap the Flicks tab icon again to jump back to the top
- New icons: A fresh set of icons with tap animations for like, comment, repost, share, and boards
Comments & Replies
Jump for joy! You can now reply with images and video.
- Full composer for replies: Replying now opens the full composer with a preview of the post so you can add images and video
- Jump to profiles: Tap any name or avatar to go to a user’s profile
- Jump to thread: Tap a timestamp to open that post’s full thread
Account Management
This is the important stuff.
- Content Settings: We’ve added our first label, for AI generated content. With more to come so you can define your own experience on Gander! You can also toggle the Media Bias API off/on (and we’re looking at other services)
- Delete posts: You can now delete your own posts. Still working on that edit button.

- Delete your account: Request account deletion via settings and confirm via email. And just like that all your data will be removed from Gander services. Simple like it should be.
Chat
Messaging gets smoother, more focussed, and clickable content.
- Keep your focus in the DMs: Chat now auto-focuses the text input automatically when you open a conversation
- Streamlined flow: The chat bottom sheet closes after you select someone to message
- Tappable content: Chats now support tappable hashtags, mentions, and links. Please share with care.
Profile
More improvements thanks to some beta testing shenanigans. “How many Geese can I fit into a bio?” is no longer a rhetorical question.
- Character counter: A live indicator shows how much space you have left in your bio
- Clickable bios: Hashtags, mentions, and links now work inside bios
- Bio limit: For now, you’ve got up to 3,851 characters (shoutout to Ocean of Honks) let us know what happens when you hit the max.
- Quick return: Tap the Profile tab again to scroll back to the top
performance & reliabity
Upgrades make things faster, cleaner, and more stable across the board.
- Blocked users: No longer appear in search results… because you blocked them.
- Video handling: Now supports a wider range of video formats
- Bluesky posts: Fixed an issue where external posts didn’t appear in your Following feed
- Stability: Various crash fixes and background improvements
