Gander Release v1.0.7 – July 27th, 2026

Stirling Coulter-Hayward Stirling Coulter-Hayward

This update is all about timing, speed, and fewer things getting in the way of your gandering… all while we finish off the web version of Gander and really dig in on groups.

TL;DR

  • Gander now asks for notification permission where it makes sense, instead of when you first open the app
  • The app is faster and takes up less space on your device
  • Your feed should stop jumping quite so much after posting and commenting
  • Mentions, menus, overlays, and the composer should behave more reliably
  • Deleted accounts no longer appear in saved logins
  • Verified people shouldn’t get the verification request any more

Improvements

Notification Permissions

Gander now asks for notification permission after you follow someone or tap a notification feature for the first time. Not as soon as you open the app for the first time ever.

A little more context and much less “why are they asking me this right now, at this specific point in time and space when I have no idea what it means”.

Performance and App Size

We reworked a few things under the hood.

  • Gander should load and feel faster
  • The app now takes up less space on your device (we know it’s precious)
  • Overall performance should be improved across the app

Fixes

Feed and Scrolling

Your feed should stay where you left it.

  • No more random refreshes while you’re scrolling away
  • Posting and commenting shouldn’t make your feed jump

Composer and Mentions

We fixed a few things that were getting in the way of writing posts. Writing and editing posts should feel a little less cramped and chaotic

  • Adding an @ mention with the mention button works properly again!
  • Overlays don’t cover the composer or keyboard on certain screens

Post and Comment Menus

Action menus should now stay open long enough for you to actually use them. A bold concept.

  • Post action menus shouldn’t close unexpectedly
  • Likewise with comment action menus

Saved Logins

Deleted accounts should stay deleted.

  • Accounts that have been deleted will no longer appear in your saved login options… because you deleted them

Verification and Human Checks

We fixed an issue that would sometimes return a false positive on human checks. Don’t worry, we know you’ve completed the check and won’t bother you about it anymore.

Known Issues

Nothing major to flag this round.

If something still jumps, closes, covers your keyboard, or just acts like it has a mind of its own, let us know through the in-app feedback form.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who reported jumping feeds, disappearing menus, broken mentions, awkward overlays, and verification problems.

Keep them coming.
