TL;DR

  • Try on our fresh new look with redesigned navigation and icons
  • Home screen now includes your feeds + quicker access to search and support
  • New post composer makes it easier to share your posts
  • Flicks (our vertical video) is smoother and more stable
  • Android layout and keyboard bugs fixed: no more pesky keyboard getting in the way
  • Video and audio playback improved
  • News Bias and Credibility indicators now show up reliably, just like journalists do

Improvements

We’ve redesigned a tonne based on input from beta testers, and this release includes the first wave of that work. Navigation is simpler, icons are clearer, and everything feels a bit more organized.

Gander UI Update Part II: The Sequel is already in production, coming to your local device soon!

What’s new:

  • A cleaner bottom tab bar with new icons
  • More logical navigation structure: For You, Feeds, and more are now tabs on the home screen
  • Flicks (our vertical video view) now has a permanent spot in the main nav
  • The post button is more prominent
  • Your profile has moved to the main nav to meet expectations and improve access

  • Your feeds now live right on the home screen
  • Gander Feed is now live: showing content exclusively from other Ganderers
  • The For You feed and Nest are temporarily hidden while we rebuild them. They’ll be back.
  • New search button to help you find people faster (additional search functionality is in the works too)
  • A Get Help button now lives at the top of the home screen. Use it to log feature requests, report bugs, or flag content for moderation. You can still shake your phone if you like 🙂

  • Scrolling (or flicking, if you will) through videos is smoother
  • Video controls now behave more reliably mid-swipe

  • Mentions now insert correctly when tagging people
  • The keyboard no longer covers your post while typing (finally)
  • Layout and formatting tweaks throughout the app
  • Let us know if you’re on a larger system font and still running into issues

New Features

  • News links now display credibility and political bias ratings via Media Bias Fact Check, helping you evaluate news sources at a glance.
  • A little context goes a long way… But we still recommend reading past the headline before commenting.

Thanks

  • Huge thanks to all of our Beta Testers for their support trying out Gander Social.
  • And the Dev Team for doing their Dev-thing.
  • We’re grateful to everyone who’s logged feedback, shared screenshots, or just stuck with us through some weird UI moments. Keep it coming.
